Not magic, but a great visual gag. Get your helper to "give it a whack with the wand, but don't hit my fingers" - shout and scream and reveal your swollen thumb! Or if you have a prop with a door or lid - "WHAM!" slam your thumb in it, it looks so sore!
I use one of these in EVERY show, however the old version used to split easily and the colour came off the nail very easily... NOT ANYMORE!!
