Both the size (it's about 2" high - 5cm) and the price belie just what an effective little trick this is. Tuck a small hanky into the tube, roll up the tube in paper (your spectator can peer inside to see the hanky is still there) then twist the ends to imprison the tube so you end up with something looking like a Christmas cracker. An idea from Peter Aubery is to use a small piece of Christmas wrapping paper to add to the impression.
Despite all this, when the paper is unwrapped, the tube is still there - but it's completely empty! No sign of the hanky at all.
